Word Guess Game
Guess the hidden word from colour clues: unlimited games, 4 to 8 letters, a daily word, hard mode and stats.
Guess a hidden word in a few tries. After each guess, every letter turns green when it is in the right place, yellow when the word has it elsewhere, and grey when it is not in the word. Play as many games as you like, or the daily word that everyone gets on the same date, with words of 4 to 8 letters.
The game runs in your browser, and your games and stats stay on this device.
How to use it
- Game — Unlimited starts a new random word whenever you finish one; Daily is one word per date, the same for everyone, numbered from 18 October 2026.
- Word length — 4 to 8 letters. Each length and game keeps its own game in progress, so switching does not lose one.
- Hard mode — every green letter must stay in its place and every yellow letter must be used in each later guess. It is fixed when a game's first guess is made.
- Colour-blind colours — orange for the right place and blue for the wrong place, in the game and in the shared result.
Type on your keyboard or tap the keys on screen; Enter submits a guess, and turns green once the row is full, and the back key deletes a letter. A guess must be a word in the list: anything else shakes the row and uses no try. The on-screen keys take the best colour each letter has shown.
Hint asks first, then shows one letter in its place, starting from the first not yet found, and colours its key green. Hints stop when one unknown letter is left. A win with hints still counts as a win; the result and the shared text say how many were used. Give up shows the word and counts the game as lost.
After a game: the word with a link to its meaning, your stats for that word length, and the guesses the Wordle Solver would make to find the same word. “Share result” copies your coloured squares with the game number and a link, without letters, so a friend can play the same game.
How guesses are coloured
Letters in the right place turn green first. Then each other letter of the guess, left to right, turns yellow while the word still holds a copy of it not already matched; the rest are grey. So a letter typed twice shows two colours only when the word has it twice.
Hard mode counts the same way: a letter shown green or yellow twice in one guess must appear at least twice in each later guess.
Examples
A repeated letter in place and out of place
- Word
- ABBEY
- Guess
- BABES
- Colours
- B yellow, A yellow, B green, E green, S grey
The second B is in place, so it is green first. ABBEY holds a second B, so the first B of BABES turns yellow.
More copies than the word holds
- Word
- SHEEP
- Guess
- GEESE
- Colours
- G grey, E yellow, E green, S yellow, E grey
SHEEP has two Es, both matched by the green Es in the middle of GEESE, so the first and last Es are grey.
A guess hard mode refuses
- Word
- CLOUD
- First guess
- CRANE: C green, R grey, A grey, N grey, E grey
- Next guess
- MONEY
- Hard mode says
- The 1st letter must be C
